In recent past, Upwork account suspension rate is very high. A large number of freelancer accounts are being suspended around the world. The Upwork team finds them guilty of violating their most basic terms of service. No matter the accounts are with good earnings or good client’s feedback ratings or brand new. So Upwork account suspension could happen to anyone anytime.
The chance of account restoration is very rare (less than 1%). Because their Trust and Safety team manually checks each account’s activity before Upwork account suspension. So in most cases, they suspend it forever.
If anyone rarely can manage to get rid of Upwork account suspension, they will disqualify him/her from “Top Rated” status for 90 days after the restoration.
Upwork uses advanced tracking mechanism to check your all kinds of activities. So, don’t try to fool them.

The most common reasons for Upwork account suspension and how to avoid it:
Let’s have a detailed explanation of each and every reason.
Uncertain Identity and Account Sharing:
Believe in yourself! Always provide your own accurate information which is easily verifiable. And use a clear photograph of your headshot in your profile. Quickly respond to all requests for phone verification or ID verification. Learn more about how to get started on Upwork.
Never share your account details with anyone else and allow to use your Upwork account. And more importantly never ever log into any of your clients’ accounts even they request you to do so.
Contact Information Sharing:
Don’t include any contact information in your profile. That means you can’t add email, Skype ID or links to any sites where anyone can contact you outside of Upwork. For example, a link to your personal or portfolio website or other profile sites like Linkedin.
Spamming and Harassment:
You should treat everyone with respect and courtesy in all types of communications. Write each and every cover letter individually depending on job posting’s requirements. Don’t use the same cover letter to apply for a job repeatedly. And don’t send an excessive message to any client.
You can use a template cover letter every time. But you have to adjust or edit it according to the requirements of every job postings.
Failing to complete the Contracts:
When you got hired for a project, you should complete the project by delivering a high-quality work. But failing to fulfill your contract responsibilities can result in a clients’ dissatisfaction and payment disputes or refund.
Don’t put pressure on your clients to give you a good feedback rating. And never withhold any work until a good feedback is given. It’s fine to let your clients know that you tried hard to provide a high-quality work and you want to earn a good rating score in return.
Multiple Logins or Wrong Account Type:
You should use the same login for all activities on Upwork, whether you’re working as a freelancer, owner of an agency, or hiring freelancers as a client.
What to do next?
As I said earlier, once your account is suspended, it is suspended forever and there is a very little chance to get restored.
But I think you should take that rare chance though and confess what you did and tell them that was wrong but unaware. Upwork might consider your honest confession and you can get rid of Upwork account suspension, hopefully.
As long as you are not trying to manipulate the Upwork’s advanced tracking system and are doing everything ethically right according to Upwork Terms of Service there is no chance for Upwork account suspension.
So I strongly suggest you all review the full Upwork Terms of Service for better understanding in this regard.
